Le Relais de l'Entrecote in Wanchai will treat mums to a complimentary aperitif on Mother's Day, 10 May, and dads to a complimentary glass of wine on Father's Day, 21 June.

 

The restaurant is just one of hundreds of eateries all over Hong Kong that will be serving special menus on Mother's Day and Father's Day.

You can expect lavish buffets, champagne brunches, decadent desserts, the list goes on. 

Modelled after an eponymous eatery in the Saint Germain district of  Paris, France, the popular French bistro has all the trappings of a Parisian haunt: oak paneling, red leather banquette seating, colourful tablecloths, vintage posters, the list goes on.

Steak frites, a chargrilled striploin steak with a mouth-watering home-made sauce and hand-cut French fries, is the specialty of the house. In fact, it is the only main course on the menu!

It is accompanied by a simple green salad with walnuts and a Dijon mustard salad dressing.

And make sure to save room for those decadent desserts! While there is only one main course, the dessert menu is as extensive as it is decadent.

L'Entrecote 101

A number of restaurants around the world use the word "entrecote" in their name. But what, precisely, does the word mean?

Entrecote is a French word meaning a premium cut of beef, which is used for steaks.

There are 3 distinct groups of restaurants with the word entrecote in their names, and they are owned by the 3 children of Paul Gineste de Saurs, who purchased a restaurant called Le Relais de Venise in Paris in 1959.

Restaurants in the 3 groups follow the same pattern established by Paul: just one main dish, a grilled steak served with a butter based sauce and accompanied by French fries and a simple green salad. And that extensive dessert menu ...
