All Nippon Airways of Japan announces plans to purchase a total of 15 jetliners from rivals Airbus of Europe and Boeing of the United States, but only one of the orders includes wide body aircraft.
All Nippon Airways of Japan has ordered 7 more narrow bodied Airbus A321 aircraft, including 4 Airbus A321ceos (current engine option) with Sharklets and 3 Airbus A321neos (new engine option).
Sharklets are a new wingtip design, which was launched by Airbus in 2009. They reduce fuel consumption by up to 3.5% on long range flights.
The Japanese airline had already placed firm orders for 30 Airbus A320neos, including 7 Airbus A320neos and 23 Airbus A321neo in mid 2014.
The latest order brings the airline’s total order for Airbus A320 aircraft to to 37 airplanes, which will gradually replace its existing single aisle fleet. ANA will be the first Japanese operator of both the Sharklet-equipped A321ceo and A321neo.

In terms of the passenger experience, the Airbus A321 has wider seats, with 18 inch wide seats standard in Economy Class. Airlines, meanwhile, profit from the single-aisle airplane's operational flexibility.
More than 11,500 Airbus A320 aircraft have been ordered so for, and nearly 6,400 of the airplanes have been delivered to 400 airlines throughout the world.
Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner
The same day that All Nippon Airways announced its decision to purchase 7 narrow bodied Airbus aircraft, the airline announced that it would also purchase 8 Boeing airliners: 3 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners, which are wide bodied, and 5 Next-Generation Boeing 737-800s, which are narrow bodied.
The total value of order is approximately US$1.4 billion at current list prices.

"We are proud to play an integral role in ANA's long-term success as they look to feature the complete family of 787 Dreamliners in their future fleet."
ANA was the launch customer of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The airline has taken delivery of 34 Boeing 787 Dreamliners so far, and 46 of the technologically advanced aircraft are still on order.
The Boeing 787-10 will offer 25% to 30% more fuel efficiency than other airplanes of its size today and more than 10% better than anything on offer in tthe future.
All Nippon Airways has also ordered 5 Boeing 737-800s, the best-selling version of the highly successful Next-Generation 737 family of single-aisle airplanes, which deployed by airlines on short to medium haul routes.
Boeing currently has 4 Next Generation 737s in its portfolio. The Boeing 737-800 was launched in September 1994. It can carry up to 189 passengers.
The Boeing 737-800 is the best selling aircraft in Boeing's Next Generation 737 family, which has received more than 6,800 orders worldwide.
