Kuwait Airways has finalized an order for 10 Boeing 777-300ER (Extended Range) airliners with a list price of US$3.3 billion.

"Kuwait Airways has plans to renew its fleet as well as expand its operations, and the 777-300ER is a perfect airplane for our strategy," says Rasha Al Roumi, Kuwait Airways CEO.

"The airplane has already validated its position in terms of high reliability, low operating costs, and fuel efficiency. We are looking forward to having the 777-300ER join our fleet."

Kuwait Airways has a route network stretching from from New York City in the West to Manila in the Philippines in the East with travel destinations scattered across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.

Feather in the Cap

"This order marks another feather in the cap for the 777-300ER, which not only continues to be an integral part of the fleet of many of the world's airlines but is also being ordered by new customers who see the value of the airplane," says Ray Conner, President and CEO, Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

"The aerospace industry in the Middle East continues to enjoy a phenomenal growth and we are proud to be part of that growth and look forward to an enduring relationship with Kuwait Airways."

The Boeing 777-300ER has proved popular with other Middle Eastern air carriers. Emirates Airline has 100 Boeing 777-300ERs, which it describes as 'the backbone of the Emirates fleet'.

Qatar Airways has 28 Boeing 777-300ERs and Etihad Airway has 11 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
