Management and staff at Hansar Samui, a 5 star resort in Koh Samui in Southern Thailand, visited 6 schools in Northern Thailand, where they distributed backpacks and school supplies and awarded a scholarship to a deserving student.

Pupils at the schools, which are located in the mountains 95 kilometres from Chiang Mai, are from impoverished families, and many of them have to walk 3 kilometres to and from the school each day.

They sometimes have to spend the night at school during in stormy weather.

The Mae Man School was established in 1978. There are 5 teachers and 53 students, ranging from kindergarten through Grade 12.

The hotel will support the school financially, sending money eau month, which will be used to buy supplies and provide meals as part of its on-going commitment to corporate social responsibility.
