The national flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Etihad Airways will launch non-stop service linking its Abu Dhabi hub with Hong Kong.

But don;'t hold your breath. Service on the new route won't begin until 15 June 2015.

Operating 4 times a week, the flights will complement existing flights operated by the airline's code share partner, Air Seychelles, which currently operates flights linking Abu Dhabi with Hong Kong 3 times a week.

It is the airline's 4th travel destination in Greater China.

Increased Travel Options

The UAE-based air carrier already flies non-stop between Abu Dhabi and 3 cities in China: Beijing, Chengdu, and Shanghai.

“Hong Kong is an exciting and significant addition to our global network,” says James Hogan, President and Chief Executive Officer of the airline.

“The new services will offer our guests from Hong Kong and nearby southern China increased travel options and enhanced connections over our Abu Dhabi hub to 34 business and leisure destinations across the Gulf region, Europe, and Africa.”

The airline will operate a 2 class Airbus A330-200 aircraft, carrying 262 passengers, with 22 seats in Business Class and 240 seats in Economy Class.

The airline has announced 5 other new travel destinations for the first half of 2015: Kolkata, India; Madrid, Spain; Entebbe, Uganda; Edinburgh, Scotland; and Algiers, Algeria..
