Sustainable Travel: 'Pay As You Use' Budget Hotel Opens Hotel in Mindanao

Malaysia-based Tune Hotels opened its seventh hotel in the Philippines in the city of Davao, Mindanao, on 17 December 2013. The 155 room budget hotel has a 'pay-as-you-use' concept to keep costs low.

"Over five million guests have stayed with Tune Hotels, and we look forward to welcoming more visitors and tourists by providing them international standard accommodation at highly affordable rates," says Mark Lankester, Group CEO of Tune Hotels.

The Tune Hotel Davao is located close to shopping malls, a major convention and exhibition centre, and the Southern Philippines Medical Centre.

The largest city in Mindanao, Davao is home to Mount Apo, the tallest peak in the Philippines. With several trails leading to the summit, it is one of the country's most popular hiking destinations.

Other important nearby attractions include the Philippine Eagle Nature Center, the Pearl Farm Beach Resort, Jack's Ridge, the Davao Museum, and the Davao Crocodile Park.

Under the hotel chain's 'pay-as-you-use' concept, travelers staying at Tune Hotels only pay for their hotel rooms. If they want amenities such as air-conditioning, towels and toiletries, in-room Wi-Fi, or satellite TV service, they have to pay extra.

Not only does this keep costs down, it also reduces waste and saves energy, the hotel chain believes.
