Australia

Singapore Airlines is investing millions of dollars to upgrade its lounges at 15 airports throughout its global network. The lounge at Sydney Airport in Australia was the first to take off.

Following extensive research, which included focus groups with airline passengers, the “new concept” SilverKris Lounge at Sydney Airport was designed to create a sense of “homeliness”.

There are personal spaces reflecting kitchens, living rooms, and dining rooms.

Interestingly enough, bedrooms were not mentioned in the press release. What about passengers wanting to catch a few winks transiting between flights?

Upgraded Food Options

There will be more personalized services and upgraded food options, including such signature Singaporean dishes as laksa and mee siam.

Singaporean elements have also been incorporated into the interior design.

"Our customers frequently tell us that they have a feeling of ‘home’ as soon as they board our aircraft, and our aim is to extend this experience to the ground,” says Tan Pee Teck, Singapore Airlines’ Senior Vice President Product & Services.

“Through our new 'home away from home' concept, the intention is for our customers to experience the feeling of being taken care of at every step of their journey.

"Each space is thoughtfully designed to create the ambiance of ‘home’ that is familiar and comforting, adding to the warm, authentic and personalised service that Singapore Airlines is well known for."
