The Eaton, Hong Kong, has been awarded the EarthCheck Silver Certificate in recognition of its commitment to the environment. It has actively launched green initiatives as part of its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.
A smart room product with LED lighting has been launched. The hotel achieved a Best Practice rating in five of the eight areas assessed.
Policy, minimizing energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, potable water consumption, waste sent to landfill, and the rating of cleaning products used were among the Best Practices cited.
Sustainable and Renewable Resources
Some of the hotel's other environmentally friendly initiatives include the use of renewable and sustainable resources in its interior design.
Bamboo paneling, for example, was used rather than wood in the lobby. Not only is bamboo a visually attractive choice, it is also a renewable resource.
The eco-friendly list goes on!
“We’re delighted to be certified by EarthCheck, and are very proud of everyone who has been involved in this process,” says Shane Pateman, General Manager of Eaton, Hong Kong.
“The Silver status proves the success of Eaton, Hong Kong’s on-going practices in developing and maintaining our environmental policy. But we’re not content to stop there and are now exploring ways to take our energy for these causes in to the wider community, both locally and across the industry.”
