Air New Zealand will launch twice weekly direct service linking Auckland, New Zealand, with South East Queensland in Australia in July 2012.The new flights will not only give a boost to the lucrative New Zealand market.
They will also provide connections to the key US market as Air New Zealand flies non stop from Auckland to the United States.
"The relationship with New Zealand travelers will now be even stronger with this increased flight capacity, and to have a link to the all important US market for this region is an exciting prospect," says Mantra Group CEO, Bob East.
The Mantra Group operates the Peppers, Mantra, and BreakFree hotel brands, the largest provider of hotels, apartments, and resorts in Queensland, Australia.
"With over 1,000 rooms available in the Group's Mantra and BreakFree properties in Noosa, Mooloolaba, Caloundra, and Alexandra Beach, we are well placed to service the expected increase in visitors."
Singapore Air Link
In a related move, Scoot Airlines, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, announced earlier that it would launch direct flights linking Singapore with the Gold Coast.
"The greatest benefit from Scoot flights into the Gold Coast is the 150 ports that feed directly into Singapore - by securing Scoot the Gold Coast has opened access from all major source markets from the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and the Americas,” Bob says.
"The tourism sector will obviously benefit hugely from this and our network of over 20 hotels on the Gold Coast will cater perfectly to this market - especially Peppers Broadbeach, which provides a boutique apartment accommodation option unlike no other on the Gold Coast. Likewise, our Mantra properties provide some 1,900 rooms to cater for the expected numbers."
