Dusit Thani to Enter Vietnamese Market with Two Seaside Resorts

Dusit International will enter the Vietnamese market as the operator of two seaside resorts as the country’s inbound tourism arrivals soar. The first is scheduled to open in December 2017; the second, before mid-2018.

The DusitPrincess Moonrise Beach Resort is located on Phu Quoc Island, the largest island in Vietnam. The hotel is scheduled to open in December 2017.

The dusitD2 Vung Tau is located in 90 kilometres from Ho Chi Minh City, a.k.a. Saigon. It is scheduled to open Q2 2018.

The hotel openings come as Vietnam experiences a sharp increase in inbound tourism.

“Last year, Vietnam welcomed 10 million international tourists, an increase of 26% from 2015, and this positive growth only looks set to continue,” says Suphajee Suthumpun, Group Chief Executive Officer of Dusit International.

The Thai-based hospitality group Dusit International will enter the Vietnamese debut this December with the opening of the DusitPrincess Moonrise Beach Resort on Phu Quoc, Vietnam’s largest island.

The hotel will have 108 rooms overlooking Bai Truong Beach on the island’s west coast. The rooms will range from 32 square metres for a deluxe rooms to 56 square metres for a Grand Suites. All rooms will have a view of the sea,

Facilities will include an all-day-dining restaurant, a spa, an outdoor pool, a lounge and pool bar, a fully-equipped conference room, and a kids’ zone.

Phu Quoc, also known as Pearl Island, is located in the south of Vietnam in the Gulf of Thailand.

An up-and-coming tourist destination, the island is known for its long, sweeping beaches, rich coral reefs, and dense, tropical jungle.

Popular attractions include Phu Quoc National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve; and Dinh Cau Temple, built in 1937 to honour Thien Hau, the Goddess of the Sea.

The hotel is an eight minutes’ drive from Phu Quoc International Airport, which has a beautiful new terminal building. The field is served by eight airlines.

Jetstar Pacific Airlines, VietJet Air, and Vietnam Airlines fly to such domestic travel destinations as Can Tho, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Rach Gia.

Lucky Air flies to Kunming, China. China Southern Airlines flies in Guangzhou, China. Seasonal charter flights are offered to several other Chinese cities.

Flights to several other foreign travel destinations will be launched this year.

  • Asiana Airlines will launch seasonal chartered flights to Seoul-Incheon, Korea, in September;
  • Bangkok Airways will launch flights to Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi, Thailand, in October;
  • Thomson Airways will launch seasonal flights to Helsinki, Finland, in December, London-Gatwick in November, and Stockholm-Arlanda, in November.

The airport is currently being upgraded and expected to welcome more than four million travelers per year. A visa exempt rule grants international visitors 30 days upon arrival.

dusitD2 Vung Tau

Dusit International will launch its second Vietnamese property in the popular seaside resort of Vung Tau, Vietnam, a few months later.

Scheduled to open by mid-2018, it will be the group’s first dusitD2 branded property in the Southeast Asian country.

The dusitD2 Vung Tau will have a contemporary design with creative and vibrant décor. The hotel will have 100 rooms set within independent bungalows as well as two large villas.

Facilities will include an all-day-dining outlet, a seafood restaurant, a stylish bar, a spa, a gym, and a ballroom.

dusitD2 Vung Tau will be located on the western side of a peninsula with extensive beaches.  It is a popular seaside getaway for domestic travelers as well as tourists from other parts of Southeast Asia.

Approximately 10 minutes by car from downtown Vung Tau, which is located approximately 90 kilometres from Ho Chi Minh City, a.k.a. Saigon, in southern Vietnam.

The former capital of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, Vung Tau is an up-and-coming tourist destination.

Tourist Attractions

Popular attractions on the peninsula include Christ of Vung Tau, a 32-metre-high statue of Jesus Christ; Vung Tau Lighthouse, providing an uninterrupted 360 degree view of the city; and Vung Tau’s beach front, with its wide range of seafood restaurants and bars.

Two significant entertainment attractions under development are Vung Tau Aquarium and Bau Trung, a Disneyland styled theme park.

Transport

The hotel is located approximately 90 minutes by car from Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.

The airport is a hub for Jetstar Pacific Airlines, VASCO, VietJet Air, and Vietnam Airlines. It is also served by more than 40 international carriers.

All-Nippon Airways, Asiana Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airway, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, Philippine Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, and Turkish Airlines are among the foreign airlines serving the airport.
