The Southern Alliance of Raider Nation (SARN) held its first Summer Beach Bash in Biloxi, Mississippi, from 10 to 12 June 2016, proving once again that the Raider Nation is national in scope.

“As I sit here at home reflecting back on this wonderful weekend and wishing that it wouldn't end, I feel the need to say a big thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone that attended and everyone that helped me in my first endeavor as a ‘Raider event coordinator’ lol,” says Jennifer Bosslady Norris, President  of Raider Nation of Mississippi Gulf Coast and Board Member of SARN.

Things got underway with a Meet n Greet all day Friday at Raising Canes, 2590 Beach Boulevard, Biloxi, Mississippi. That night there was a party at the Reef, 1749 Beach Boulevard, also in Biloxi.

There was a beach party from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday at Jones Beach in nearby Gulfport. There was barbecue and vendors.

It was kind of like tailgating at the Black Hole in Oaktown, but with the beach as a backdrop. Proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of South Mississippi.

There was a Silver and Black party from 8 pm to 1 am on Saturday night at the Mississippi Gulfcoast Coliseum Conversation Center back in Biloxi.

Robert Meras, J-Cino, 4 and Dub put on live performances, and Vic Badd Guy spun the discs. Saints Super Fan Reggie Goldboy Williams was a special guest.

“We also had Ira Matthews and Kim Bush come make an appearance and also had a nice raffle of all sorts of Raiders signed memorabilia," Jennifer says.

Michael Smallwood, President of the Phoenician Raiders Booster Club in the Desert Southwest and Official Correspondent for the Accidental Travel Writer in Arizona, flew all the way from Phoenix to Biloxi to attend the event.

Myke says he had a great time, calling Gulfport “very friendly” and “completely rebuilt” after Katrina.

“Funniest part was when Ira met Joann and me for dinner,” Myke says.  “Hilarious!!! Kim's Kenny Stabler stories were great, too. It will all come out in the book.”

The event was conceived before the 2016 NFL schedule was announced, and the timing could not have been better.

The Raiders will play several AFC South and NFC South teams this year, which means there will be lots of road games in the Southern states.

“If you plan to travel to any of the Raiders road games in the South this coming season, I strongly advise you to familiarize yourself with the Southern Alliance Raider Nation (S.A.R.N.) to maximize your ‘NFL Raider Fan’ experience,” advises Myke.

“I am friends with a few of the group’s leaders, which is why my club, The Phoenician Raiders Booster Club in the Desert Southwest, is a close associate of the group despite the fact that we are located in Arizona.

“The culture is different, but the passion for the Silver & Black is the same. It's Raider Nation with a Southern twist. The Southern Alliance Raider Nation is on the rise!”
